Second trip to York on 1st January 2009
|
|
What a way to open this year's trip. I did get the chance to go to York during Boxing Day but due to the urge to shop, I did not have any time to snap pictures. Luckily, my housemates planned this trip and here's what I've got (not to mention the 'therapy' I got from the outing )

Trip to Scarborough on Christmas day 2008
|
|
It's been ages since I last updated this page. I have been buried under loads of assignments and managed to get myself free on the 17th of December. The break was due to start the next week, and it was a bit late to plan any trips elsewhere. So, we kind of decided to go to York for Boxing Day and since the car had to be rented and collected on Christmas eve, we planned to go to Scarborough where another campus was located.
Unfortunately, the trip to York was not captured due to the fact that I was busy window shopping.

Snow came by along the way in November...
|
|
I was really excited when the weather forecast informed that it will be snowing for two days due to the wind from arctic. I was so excited since it will be the first time in my life to feel and witness snow in front of my very eyes.
That night, I had a dream. I dreamed that it was snowing and I was playing outside having a snowball fight. Waking up for Subuh prayers, I parted the curtain, only to find that it was just a dream. As I was having breakfast, Imah suddenly noticed white particles falling down from the sky. It was snowing!
The weather forecast informed that it will snow for a longer period of time overnight. I was wishing that by tomorrow, I could witness whites blanketing the surrounding areas. And as if my doa was answered, I witnessed this after my Subuh prayers the next day.
Imah, my housemate, along with Sarah, Kak Ainon and Nik decided to go to Pearson Park to play and head to the university afterwords to join the others.
Imah: Come on.. let's get started!!
Sarah: Relax.. we'll start eventually..
Imah: Come on.. we're gonna start..
Imah: Okay.. we pose first..
Sarah: Take my pic with the ducks..
Imah: Okay guys.. get ready...
Kak Ainon: Haha.. you missed.. now my turn..
Imah: You missed too!! Now I'm gonna get Nik...
Nik: Nooooo!!!!
Sarah: Nah.. here you go..
Kak Ainon: here you go too...
Exhausted faces after the snow fight. Posed with the snowman.
Happy faces.. Smiling with glee..

Nottingham Trip - 8th November 2008
|
|
This was my first trip outside of Hull. We were supposed to be competing in the Nottingham Malaysian Games, but as usual, we kind of skipped the games part but went as the supporters for our team, which in the end we just went sight seeing.
The first time setting foot in Nottingham
Leaves turning into gold. Breathtaking.
Signage at the city centre
North entrance
Kids playing
Nurin.. Kak Ina's daughter
Splendid colours
Breathtaking!
In the middle of the city centre.

Way from here...
|
|
Selamat Hari Raya to all. Here is a bit of what happened yesterday, during our Raya event in Hull.
My house is across the street here, further on the right.
We were heading to the second open house here. Mind the sky because it was raining. I hoped that the sun was out but it rained.
Here we are indulging in the dishes made by Kak Rokimah. These two lovely gals are new students like me. On left is Sarah from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and beside her is one of my housemate, Imah from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Kak Rokimah, a senior here in Hull, served us with nasi dagang, a dish from the East Coast of Malaysia along with the usual menu for Hari Raya, ketupat, rendang, kuah kacang and LEMANG as well!!
After indulging in the delicious dishes, we headed to our Tok Penghulu's house, En. Zahari who lives just across the street from Kak Rokimah. There, we were joined by Kak Roza, a PhD student and Kak Marina.
Anis - En. Zahari's daughter.
Kak Ainon, also a new PhD candidate with Kak Roza's son
Kak Roza's cheeky little boy. He really likes girls and women.
Since we had the induction programme going on, we didn't even wore our baju kurungs. Could you imagine us wearing baju kurung in the cold and wet weather? Pergghh.. It's freezing cold I'll tell you. So, there we were, the new students with jeans and t-shirts celebrating Eid. And we had to rush a bit since we had programmes inlined for us.
The campus is about 15 minutes from my house by foot. So, imagine us again walking to the campus with the baju kurungs in the cold weather.
Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya again to all. I am fasting again today since it is the second day of Syawal here in the UK. This weekend, we will be having the Aidilfitri Gathering at the North Community Hall. So, stay tune for more pictures!
p/s: These pictures are the non-editted version. I don't think I'll have time editting these pictures or those after this due to the hectic schedule.

Eid Mubarak
|
|
My initial plan was to put up a picture from here wishing all a happy and joyous celebration of Eidul Fitri after predicting that Eidul Fitri will be on Wednesday. I guess I did not get the chance to shoot the pic early enough since the UK will be celebrating Eid tomorrow.
Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin to all. Drive safely and have a joyous celebration. My friends out there, do remember me when indulging in the delicious dishes eh?

I dedicate this entry to my friends back home. These are the only pictures that I have and some of them are not with me. So, I am naming those without the pictures here. To Baha, Munzir and Cerap, plus these girls, adding Ita, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful friendship.

Selamat Hari Kebangsaan ke 51 Malaysia!!!
|
|
I am sooo proud to be a Malaysian. No where else can ever be the same as Malaysia. As the Malay saying, hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri, takkan sama di negeri sendiri.
Selamat Hari Kebangsaan to all Malaysians out there!!!
